April 25, 2009: Philadelphia, PA – Once a year Philadelphia becomes the centerpiece of one of the largest track & field meets in the United States with 3 days of relay events from middle school to Olympians to 90 year old runners! On Saturday there were over 35.00 fans from across the nation and with a huge following from Jamaica, the stands were often seas of green and black to support their dominating sprinters. I really love the Penn Relays and the amazing atmosphere where an ordinary high school runner can hear cheers from thousands and of course loving the beef patties and Ting. I have run here three times and was lucky enough to win the suburban 4×100 race about thirty-pounds ago. I hope runners now-a-days appreciate the digital age and the ease of having their moments captured.
